Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

So, Christmas is over and soon 2008 will be too. Like always, Christmas this year was a blissful occasion. Full of family, fun and fabulous gift giving and receiving. The only downside was that this year, I was sick over Christmas. I got a cold earlier in the week and by Christmas day I was a congested mess. My illness should have stopped me from hosting Christmas dinner, but instead we carried on as usual. I probably infected my whole family by way of the ham, but hey it tasted it good. And now here we are, 4 days from the end of the year. Therefore, I figured I would follow the cliche, and re-cap my 2008.

January:
1st: My nephew turned 3 years old and we celebrated at the most awesomely awful place in the world - Chuck E. Cheese. My husband was assigned video taping duty and quickly discovered that trying to obtain some location/surrounding shots is actually creepy when a 25 year old guy is walking around filming children.

February:
12th: My neice was born! A beautifully red headed and perfectly healthy girl. I was lucky enough to be in the room for my sister's C-section and was one of a handful of people to be the first to see her.

14th: Another year older. Sweet.

25th: My grandpa died. My grandpa was one of the most unique people I have ever met. There is/was no one else in the world like my grandpa and I miss him every day.

March:

7th-16th: Performed as Actress #1 in "The Dining Room." While this play was fun as an actor, it was boring as hell to watch. We found this out by watching the video months after we made all our family and friends come see the show.

April:
1st: Filmed my first corporate video. I hosted a training video for the company's new website. It was so great to have that opportunity. Here are some pictures:

15th: My dream of becoming a janitor finally came true. Well, almost. I got to do a photo shoot for the cover of an office supplies catalog. My role: a singing janitor. Yeah, I rocked it out.

26th-30th: Took a road trip to LA. Loooooong drive and kind of a stressful trip. It was test to try out LA and see what it was like. It did not go well. Anyway, keep this in mind as this will eventually be a major theme of this blog.

May:

18th: My brother helped me build a small fountain/waterfall in the back yard. It looks lovely, but it is bitch to clean.

June:

19th-21st: I was in the show, "The Organist's Daughter," for Coal Creek Community Theater. We took this show to the Colorado Community Theater Coalition Competition in Idaho Springs, CO. This is a festival where theatres through out the state bring shows to perform and compete. To our astonishment, we won FIRST PLACE!!! I also took home an All State Acting award. What is even cooler, is that this win allows us to go on and compete at the National Competition in Tacoma, WA in June 2009!

July:

4th-5th: The Feist Family Reunion. It was my dad's turn to plan the event which translates into me doing all the planning. After much stress over oodles of details, the reunion went on without a hitch in Claflin, KS. Not the most glorious place on earth, but a great place for all the family to get together.

7th: My husband I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary! We spent the day shopping, going to the museum, eating out and seeing a movie.

7th: Earlier that morning, I appeared on the television show "Colorado & Company." We got to go to channel 9 NBC studios and be interviewed about our CCTC win (see previous month). It was way cool!

18th: Went to see "The Buddy Holly Story" at the Arvada Center with the in-laws. Great show and great music (duh). However, the matinee was full of old white folks who couldn't care less about the show, but rather were just waiting for the next song to start so they could (annoyingly) sing along and (annoyingly) dance in their seats.

August:

1st-2nd: My husband and I took part in the Denver 48 Hour Film Festival. Some filmmaker friends of ours asked us to star in their movie. For the festival, teams are given a genre and have to write, film and edit their entire movie in 48 hours. Our film was pretty sweet (view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxT-NW9P0KU)

September:

5th-27th: Performed as Poppy in "Noises Off!" This is my favorite play of all time and this production was one of the best I have ever been a part of. We earned a 4 out of 4 star review and tons of laughs every night. It was an awesome experience!

October:

9th-11th: Took a vacation to NYC. We love NYC and had a great time! We saw "Legally Blonde" and "Young Frakenstein." We also ate at Ninja restaurant - an awesome restaurant set in feudal Japan with Ninjas abound. The food was the best I have ever had in NY. The highlight of this trip was we got to attend a taping of the Conan O'Brien show. We were just 3 rows up from the stage and it was so cool to see the show put together from behind the scenes.

November:

21st: Skipped out on work to go see "Twilight". Yes, ok, yes I'm obsessed with the series. I'm now almost done with reading through the series 3 times. Sick, I know. Anyway, I was just a little excited to see the movie. Unfortunately, the movie was less than stellar, but I still love the books.

December:

17th: Started a blog! And here I am. All caught up. What a great year! Have a great 2009!!
