So Long, Shanahan
For as long as I can remember, I have cheered on my beloved Denver Broncos. Every Sunday during football season, you can always count on me to be sporting my Broncos sweatshirt or some other form of Bronco apparel. I scream at the tv (both postively and negatively) and feel personally betrayed when we lose or if a player is traded. When Elam left last season, I was in denial and didn't want to believe the league's best kicker was now playing for someone else. Anyway, since I've been a Bronco fan, Mike Shanahan has been the head coach. Well, after a dismal 8-8 season, he was fired yesterday. While I agree that some changes needed to be made to get the team back up to par, I don't feel that canning Shanahan is the right thing to do. I think he could have turned the team around (hello? Did you see our IR list this season?! It wasn't all his fault). But now he is going to go to some other team and come back and wallop Denver next year. I feel like a part of my football loving Bronco hysteria is now gone forever. So long, Shanahan.

Blown Away
Good God! It is hella windy today. And it was hella windy all night long too. 40 mph wind gusts kept attacking the house all night long resulting in no sleep on my end. And now, at work, we are all just waiting for the building to blown away. I'm pretty sure the Staples sign on the driveway to the building was blown away during the night. That was easy.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
So, Christmas is over and soon 2008 will be too. Like always, Christmas this year was a blissful occasion. Full of family, fun and fabulous gift giving and receiving. The only downside was that this year, I was sick over Christmas. I got a cold earlier in the week and by Christmas day I was a congested mess. My illness should have stopped me from hosting Christmas dinner, but instead we carried on as usual. I probably infected my whole family by way of the ham, but hey it tasted it good. And now here we are, 4 days from the end of the year. Therefore, I figured I would follow the cliche, and re-cap my 2008.
January:
1st: My nephew turned 3 years old and we celebrated at the most awesomely awful place in the world - Chuck E. Cheese. My husband was assigned video taping duty and quickly discovered that trying to obtain some location/surrounding shots is actually creepy when a 25 year old guy is walking
around filming children.
February:
12th: My neice was born! A beautifully red headed and perfectly healthy girl. I was lucky enough to be in the room for my sister's C-section and was one of a handful of people to be the first to see her.

14th: Another year older. Sweet.
25th: My grandpa died. My grandpa was one of the most unique people I have ever met. There is/was no one else in the world like my grandpa and I miss him every day.
March:
7th-16th: Performed as Actress #1 in "The Dining Room." While this play was fun as an actor, it was boring as hell to watch. We found this out by watching the video months after we made all our family and friends come see the show.
April:
1st: Filmed my first corporate video. I hosted a training video for the company's new website. It was so great to have that opportunity. Here are some pictures:

15th: My dream of becoming a janitor finally came true. Well, almost. I got to do a photo shoot for the cover of an office supplies catalog. My role: a singing janitor. Yeah, I rocked it out.
26th-30th: Took a road trip to LA. Loooooong drive and kind of a stressful trip. It was test to try out LA and see what it was like. It did not go well. Anyway, keep this in mind as this will eventually be a major theme of this blog.
May:
18th: My brother helped me build a small fountain/waterfall in the back yard. It looks lovely, but it is bitch to clean.
June:
19th-21st: I was in the show, "The Organist's Daughter," for Coal Creek Community Theater. We took this show to the Colorado Community Theater Coalition Competition in Idaho Springs, CO. This is a festival where theatres through out the state bring shows to perform and compete. To our astonishment, we won FIRST PLACE!!! I also took home an All State Acting award. What is even cooler, is that this win allows us to go on and compete at the National Competition in Tacoma, WA in June 2009!

July:
4th-5th: The Feist Family Reunion. It was my dad's turn to plan the event which translates into me doing all the planning. After much stress over oodles of details, the reunion went on without a hitch in Claflin, KS. Not the most glorious place on earth, but a great place for all the family to get together.
7th: My husband I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary! We spent the day shopping, going to the museum, eating out and seeing a movie.
7th: Earlier that morning, I appeared on the television show "Colorado & Company." We got to go to channel 9 NBC studios and be interviewed about our CCTC win (see previous month). It was way cool!
18th: Went to see "The Buddy Holly Story" at the Arvada Center with the in-laws. Great show and great music (duh). However, the matinee was full of old white folks who couldn't care less about the show, but rather were just waiting for the next song to start so they could (annoyingly) sing along and (annoyingly) dance in their seats.
August:
1st-2nd: My husband and I took part in the Denver 48 Hour Film Festival. Some filmmaker friends of ours asked us to star in their movie. For the festival, teams are given a genre and have to write, film and edit their entire movie in 48 hours. Our film was pretty sweet (view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxT-NW9P0KU)
September:
5th-27th: Performed as Poppy in "Noises Off!" This is my favorite play of all time and this production was one of the best I have ever been a part of. We earned a 4 out of 4 star review and tons of laughs every night. It was an awesome experience!

October:
9th-11th: Took a vacation to NYC. We love NYC and had a great time! We saw "Legally Blonde" and "Young Frakenstein." We also ate at Ninja restaurant - an awesome restaurant set in feudal Japan with Ninjas abound. The food was the best I have ever had in NY. The highlight of this trip was we got to attend a taping of the Conan O'Brien show. We were just 3 rows up from the stage and it was so cool to see the show put together from behind the scenes.

November:
21st: Skipped out on work to go see "Twilight". Yes, ok, yes I'm obsessed with the series. I'm now almost done with reading through the series 3 times. Sick, I know. Anyway, I was just a little excited to see the movie. Unfortunately, the movie was less than stellar, but I still love the books.
December:
17th: Started a blog! And here I am. All caught up. What a great year! Have a great 2009!!

Oh What a Night!
Yesterday, my sister took my husband and me to go see "Jersey Boys" at the Buell for our Christmas present. The show was spectacular! What was almost equally spectacular were my sister's sweet dance moves in her chair and eventually up the aisle as we were leaving. I kept flashing her dirty and embarrasing looks, but she just giggled and carried on. Luckily for me, a gentleman was getting up and putting on his coat and clothes-lined her. I didn't see it happen, but I was grateful...until we got to the parking garage and it started all over again. This time with singing..."Oh what a night! Late September back in sixty-[trailing-off, not knowing the year]. Man, I didn't know that Frankie Vallens had so many hits!" Sigh...
Hey looky! 2 blog posts in one day!

Fa-reezing
WTH winter?! Seriously, 5 degrees? What heck is that?! It's certainly not a real temperature that's for damn sure. Being a Colorado native, I'm fully aware that winters in CO can be bitterly cold. I am also aware that winters can also have temperatures in the 60s. Needless to say, I prefer the latter. I should be grateful because, at the moment, we aren't buried in snow and ice. (Oh, that day will come and there will be a bitchy blog about it for sure!) However, it's been far too cold for far too long. I don't know if we've been above freezing for over a week now. My furnace is working double time, my car wheezes trying to warm up and my own personality has been iced over. And what makes it even awesome-r is that yesterday was the first day of winter. Blech! The season just started and I am longing for the summer.

CAUTION: Glass! Use Door.
Today, I visited one of my company's sister buildings to pass out the new 2009 catalogs. We were set up in the back of the cafeteria, near a rear entrance into the eatery. I know several people who work at this building and told them to stop by the catalog table and chat. The entrance we were closest to was a simple door next to a full-length (floor to ceiling) pane glass window. Through the window I saw one of my friends approaching. He seemed as though he was walking at a pretty normal pace and then SHMACK! Ha ha, he pretended to crash into the pane glass window. I thought, wow, that was a pretty loud smack for just pretending. Wai-wait, is he rubbing his head? Yes, yes he is. No, he's still pretending, right? He's clearly been in and out of that door several times before and clearly, since there is a door right there, there wouldn't just be an opening right next to it...right? Well, apparently, he was really eager to get his new catalog and actually did smack right into the pane glass window- with full force. Leaving a nice pink goose-egg on his forehead and face smudge on the window.

Who the Hell Cares About a Blog?
The other day I had the brilliant idea to start a blog. For some odd reason, I believed that I might care to write about things in my life. Having never kept a diary or a journal, I really had no idea what I would write about or why on earth I would care to put thoughts down on paper...or in cyber space. My life isn't really interesting and while I sometimes think I have hilarious reactions to events in my life, I could never cleverly convey them in writing. But, here I am. Blogging. And who knows? Maybe my life is boring now, but someday something exciting might happen and I'll be so lucky to have a place to come and write all about it! No? Well, crap, I tried.
