The Golden Globes are tomorrow and since I'm opinionated, I figured I would once again pick my winners. There are a few movies I haven't seen yet, but I still think I can pick some winners. So here we go:
Best Motion Picture Drama
My Pick: Avatar
I actually wasn't that impressed by Avatar, but I predit it to win a lot of awards like Lord of the Rings and Titanic did. Also, the other movies in the category didn't stand out to me in any way, so that's why I went with Avatar.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama
My Pick: uh...not quite sure
I didn't see the majority of these performances. Sandra Bullock in The Blind Side was good, but nothing special. Gabourey Sidibe was also good in Precious, but I'm not quite sure she should walk away with the award either. Also, it's hard not to pick Helen Mirren, because like Merryl Streep, she can do no wrong, but I didn't see the movie so I have no idea.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama
My Pick: Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart
Alright, so I haven't seen this movie either, but like last year when I predicted that Sean Penn would win for Milk before I saw it, I just have a feeling about this one. The previews look pretty good. Also, the other guys in the category aren't wowing me. Colin Firth would also be a good choice and the only one that would disappoint me is Clooney. There really was nothing special about Up in the Air.
Best Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical
My Pick: (500) Days of Summer
I loved this movie! I thought it was so cute and it really made me a Joseph Gordon Levitt fan! Also, I'm a sucker for group dance numbers.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical
My Pick: Meryl Streep, Julie and Julia
I know, I know, I've professed my love for Meryl Streep many times before, but let's just face it, she's a-MAH-zing! I think her portrayl of Julia Child was extremely charming and scores above the other performances in the category.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical
My Pick: Joseph Gordon Levitt, (500) Days of Summer
This was a hard category to choose from as I thought that Daniel Day Lewis and Matt Damon were also pretty good. I just liked JGL (that's what I call him now) and thought he was adorable.
Best Performance by an Actress In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
My Pick: Mo'nique, Precious!!!!!!!!!!
OMG, I LOOOOOOOOVED her performance in Precious and if she doesn't win, it will be a huge upset. She was freaking phenomenal!! If you remember how much I was rooting for Slumdog Millionaire last year, Mo'nique is my "slum dog" of this year. She was fabulous! And even though the Oscar nominations aren't even out yet, she's my pick for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar as well. BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR!
Best Performance by an Actor In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
My Pick: Stanley Tucci, The Lovely Bones
Simply because I just happen to really like Stanley Tucci.
Best Television Series - Drama
My Pick: Mad Men
Seriously, Evan and I did a Mad Men photo shoot for fun last year, so it's clear we LOVE this show. I also like the period costumes and hairstyles. :)
Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series - Drama
My Pick: Meh...no opinion here really.
Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series - Drama
My Pick: Jon Hamm, Mad Men
Mmmmmm me loves me some Don Draper! Eventhough he is the biggest man-whore I know.
Best Television Series - Comedy Or Musical
My Pick: Modern Family!!!!!!
I feel passionate about this one as well. Modern Family is seriously the funniest show on television. I love Love LOVE this show!
Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series - Comedy Or Musical
My Pick: Tina Fey, 30 Rock
I've said it once and I'll say it again, if I could marry Tina Fey, I totally would.
Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series - Comedy Or Musical
My Pick: Alec Baldwin or Steve Carrell
Just cause I like both the shows they are in. So I guess this category is also kind of a non-opinion one.
Alrighty, I guess that's enough. I didn't predict all the categories, but just the ones I had the most opinions on. Last year I predicted pretty well, so tune into the Golden Globes tomorrow night to see how I did. :)
